Salary Advance

This policy is for employees in the US. Employees in other countries may request a salary advance based on local laws and their employer of record.

thoughtbot understands that unplanned events and emergencies happen. We aim to support our team by providing interest-free salary advances quickly when needed.

Advances are meant to help in times where not having cash on-hand may cause you hardship. Salary advances from thoughtbot may help with expenses during an unplanned leave of absence, emergency travel such as a family emergency, securing housing or other urgent needs. In some cases, a thoughtbot advance will not cover a full emergency, such as a house fire, but can get cash to you quickly while you work through the insurance process or more traditional funding options.

Advances are not intended for luxury purchases, investing, etc.
