Community Code of Conduct
Our community is built on the principles of safety, inclusivity, and kindness. We aim to foster a helpful and empowering environment for everyone, regardless of experience, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, personal appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, age, religion, nationality, or other defining characteristic.
This code of conduct applies to all aspects of our community, including, but not limited to:
- Online platforms (social media, chatrooms, mailing lists).
- In-person events (meetups).
- One-on-one communications.
- Open source projects.
- Other related activities.
It also extends to behavior outside of these spaces if it has the potential to affect the safety or well-being of our members.
Expected Behavior
- Be welcoming.
- Be kind.
- Look out for each other.
Unacceptable Behavior
We do not tolerate conduct or speech that is discriminatory, harassing, or otherwise offensive, including, but not limited to:
- Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or ableist language or actions.
- Unwelcome, suggestive, or inappropriate nicknames or terms.
- Disrespectful jokes, innuendo, or dismissive attitudes.
- Intimidation, harassment, or stalking (online or in-person).
- Inappropriate attention or contact (respect others’ boundaries).
- Violence, threats of violence, or unsafe behaviors.
- Sustained disruptions.
Enforcement
If you witness or experience violations of this code of conduct, contact the thoughtbot hosting team or email conduct@thoughtbot.com.
Hosts or organizers will take appropriate action, which may include, but is not limited to, expulsion and banning from the event, project, platform, or community, comment deletion, and escalation to GitHub support.
This policy applies to all community members, including maintainers and thoughtbot employees. If you report a thoughtbot employee’s violation of this code of conduct, it will be addressed and handled with discretion as documented in our internal Handbook.
Finally, thank you for helping us create a safe, respectful, and inclusive community. Remember that mistakes are a part of being human; we all make mistakes sometimes. We can work together to address mistakes, learn, and grow through listening, self-reflection, and corrective action.
Thanks
