Paper

Mike McKenna

This weekend, it occurred to me that despite the fact that we’re all using and relying on technology more each passing day, paper never seems to lose its value.

One of my favorite magazines, Dwell, ran a story about a timeline they created to outline some of the important moments in design history. It’s a beautiful piece, and the accompanying story discusses the many different roles that paper played in the planning and design of the piece.

And despite the fact that I’m a designer who specializes in web design, there’s paper all over my office. Email and blogs and intranets and all that stuff are wonderful, but there’s still nothing quicker or better for jotting down ideas and thoughts than paper. Don’t believe me? Spend a few bucks on a Moleskine notebook and reacquaint yourself.
