About this session

Hiring that's inclusive, rigorous, and built for mutual fit

Whether you're refining your process or preparing to grow your team, we invite engineering team leaders to join a small, roundtable session led by Chad Pytel on all things Rails hiring. This session will offer a practical, behind-the-scenes look at how thoughtbot hires senior Rails developers, as well as more junior hires.

This roundtable-style conversation will be limited to 10 team leaders and focus on sharing hurdles and best practices for attracting and hiring the best talent. Chad will walk through thoughtbot’s approach to sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding, with a focus on speed, inclusivity, and long-term fit.

Topics we'll cover together:

  • How to hire quickly and thoughtfully
  • What signals matter most when evaluating Rails developers
  • Creating a two-way process that candidates respect
  • Tools, workflows, and formats that scale with your team
  • How AI is impacting the interview process

Who should attend?

  • Engineering leaders actively hiring, or preparing to hire.
  • This session is not intended for individuals at software consultancies or recruiting agencies.
