At the start of 2015, the folks here at thoughtbot Denver conceptualized and held the Cultivate Colorado challenge. We saw it as an opportunity to give back to our local community. The challenge offered Colorado organizations the chance to earn a custom designed and developed app or product dedicated to solving a social or environmental issue. The selected entrant would work with thoughtbot to design, build, and launch their product in 2015.
We received over 40 applications from organizations all doing amazing work in Colorado. After extensive review and deliberation, we are happy to announce Colorado Open Lands as the winner of the Cultivate Colorado challenge!
Colorado Open Lands, a statewide non-profit land trust, hopes to improve and re-launch an existing program that brings to market the products and services offered by the owners of permanently conserved land in Colorado. Conserved land is often where our state’s farmers and ranchers make their living – producing healthy local food, or offering unique recreation experiences. When Colorado Open Lands and thoughtbot help them market these offerings, consumers can have an opportunity to connect to their local economies, and the landowners get an expanded platform to sell their goods and services.
Colorado Open Lands is deeply grateful to thoughtbot for the opportunity to help landowners successfully operate their individual small businesses.
We are excited to work with Colorado Open Lands and thankful for the unique opportunity to connect with local partners doing meaningful work in our state.
